“I love this industry!” Charlie Laine says enthusiastically. Lucky for her—and you—Penthouse Studios was looking for a new production manager. Who better to help make hot X-rated features than a seasoned starlet?

When the chance to move to the other side of the camera came along, Charlie couldn’t imagine turning it down. “Penthouse has been a part of my family for years,” she tells us, “and I’m so grateful to still be a part of the company.”

Her new behind-the-scenes job means getting accustomed to an entirely different lifestyle than she had as a performer, but even a hectic schedule can’t dampen her enthusiasm. “It’s a lot of long hours, but I wouldn’t want to spend 12 hours a day with any other crew,” she says. “I’ve known some of these guys for seven, eight years, and now they’re taking me under their wings and showing me the ropes. It’s a lot of work, and I don’t get a lot of sleep, but I love it. My creative juices are always flowing, and it’s so much fun.”

While she loves everything about “making porno magic,” Charlie’s favorite thing about her new gig is working with the talent. “I love choosing the hot girls and the hot guys, or if it’s girl-girl, I like putting those two performers together,” she explains. “I always ask the talent who they like working with because I want to produce a great scene, and if they’re already into each other, it’s better.”

“I love when people come up to me after a scene and thank me,” she continues. “I say, ‘As long as you go home with a smile on your face, I can go home with a smile on mine.’ ”

Lest you think her new position spells the end of Charlie’s modeling and acting career, fear not. She has no plans to give up the spotlight just yet, though she admits she’ll be seen on-screen a lot less. “I’m a perfectionist, and I want to give this new job my all,” she says. “I gave my all as a model, and I want to do the same as a production manager. Even though I won’t be modeling fulltime, I’m still contributing to making people’s fantasies come true!”

When asked how her acting debut went, Veronica says, “It was a lot of fun, and I hope to get more work as I go along. I originally took acting classes to get over some of my shyness, and I think it’s working.” The horror film also stars veteran porn star Ron Jeremy.

Our recent Penthouse DVDs starring contract girl and Pet of the Year Nikki Benz have proved definitively that everybody loves the buxom blonde—none of them more so than the aptly titled Everybody Loves Nikki Benz. But Nikki’s not always playing a character. While she admits that the directors usually have a clear vision of how her character should act and speak during plot-driven scenes, they don’t have the same requirements for sex scenes. “That’s when I come out to play,” Nikki says. “During the sex you see Nikki Benz, not just the character I’m playing in the movie.” And while she loves everything about being in front of the camera, Nikki has plans to move behind the scenes. “I’m working on writing a script right now, so we’ll see how that goes,” she tells us. “If it’s good, I’d really like to codirect the movie. I want to get my hands in everything.”

Girls Gone Dead promises to deliver blood, gore, and hot babes, including Pet Ryan Keely and Penthouse model Janessa Brazil. The low-budget film, which was directed by Michael Hoffman Jr. and Aaron T. Wells, and shot in Jupiter, Florida, includes the first major mainstream role for both ladies, although you may have seen Ryan in M. Night Shyamalan’s short film Escalation. As she tells us, “I learned a lot from this experience. The days and nights are so long! Movies are a lot of work, but I think I did a good job—and being surrounded all day by a lot of hot ladies in thong bikinis didn’t hurt.”

Janessa, who was featured in our November 2010 issue, enjoyed watching Sal’s antics between scenes. “He was always doing things like cannonballing into a pool full of girls when you least expected it,” she says. “Or he’d play pranks on Beetlejuice. Once Beetlejuice reached into what he thought was a bucket of fried chicken sitting on Sal’s lap, but his hand grabbed a different kind of meat.”

When Pet of the Year Nikki Benz breezed through New York City on a whirlwind media tour, she shot a music video for local indie rockers the Dirty Pearls.

The video, which was shot at the legendary Don Hill’s, showcases the city’s rock scene—and the stunning beauty of two of our most popular Pets.

“As soon as Nikki and Justine came onto the set, the champagne bottlespopped and the band started to rock,” says Tommy London, lead singer of the Dirty Pearls. “The energy went from 0 to 60 in just three chords!”

The music video was a first for Nikki, who enjoyed the entire experience. “The most memorable moment for me was being with my friends, popping bottles of champagne, and having Dave [Delzio] pour champagne directly into my mouth,” she says. “It dripped from my mouth down to my breasts, and the camera guy was quick to film that sticky mess while I was licking thechampagne off my fingers.” Nikki raves about her costar: “Justine is so beautiful, I couldn’t keep my eyes off her. What eye candy she is!”

Justine was equally enthusiastic about our current Queen. “Hanging out with Nikki was great,” Justine says. “She’s so sexy, a real wildcat.”

Nikki also swung by Tammany Hall to celebrate Chef Santos’s birthday, where she was front-row center for the Dirty Pearls’ full set, dancing and singing along. “I’m glad I was introduced to their music,” Nikki said. “They’re so good!”

The second season of Life on Top is airing alongside other popular Cinemax After Dark shows, but what makes this series stand out—in our humble opinion—is its exceptionally sensual cast, including 2007 Pet of the Year Heather Vandeven, 2008 Pet of the Year Runner-Up Justine Joli, December 2009 Pet Jayden Cole, and Penthouse model Riley Steele.

Heather stars as a centerfold for a Penthouse-like magazine who has decided to leave nude modeling and go back to school. Her roommate, who’s played by Jayden, has turned her hard partying into a job asset, working as a club promoter. Justine portrays Jayden’s boss, and the two clash as only fiery redheads can. Then there’s Riley’s sexed-up secretary, a small-town girl in the big city for the first time and looking to experience life—and love—in the fast lane.

The series boasts cameos by some of our favorite models, including Pet of the Year Runner-Up Ryan Keely, September 2008 Pet Kayden Kross, and porn star Lexi Belle. Kayden describes her waitress character as “just looking for an easy job—and a lot of cock—while she sails through her twenties.” Despite how sexed-up the character is, Kayden needed a day or two to adjust to a shoot that wasn’t porn. “There was a lot less emphasis on sex and a lot more emphasis on getting the dialogue right,” she says. “Every day was opposite day.”

For Riley, the hardest part of shooting the show was bringing the heat without going overboard. She tells us, “The first love scene I shot, they told me, ‘This looks great, but could you maybe tone it down a little bit? It has to be soft-core.’ I thought that was pretty funny.”

It wasn’t all work and no play while shooting in Romania. On their days off, the ladies managed to find ways to entertain themselves, doing everything from visiting the grave of Vlad the Impaler to checking out the historic castles to get ting down and dirty. “We found this wonderful public pool,” Heather says, “and on our rare days off, the actors would drink copious amounts of beer and lounge poolside, topless, and make out with each other. Or at least the girls would. The locals really appreciated it!”

Fans who watch will get to see their favorite girl-girl adult-star Pets—Justine, Heather, and Ryan—getting it on with the show’s leading men. “People who have seen the first few episodes have already contacted me to tell me how hot they think my boy-girl scenes are,” Justine says. “Everyone was really sexually charged this season, and that definitely comes across on-screen. That’s really the No. 1 reason to tune in: the rockin’-ass sex scenes.”

The Pets and Penthouse models were prominently featured in Ellen’s exhibit at Fuse Gallery in New York City, “Melting Flesh.” The show featured multiple-exposure images produced with a Holga, an inexpensive plastic film camera notorious for leaking light. While abstract, the photos are still arousing, and they captivated the opening-night crowd. “Ellen’s art reaches a broad audience,” Justine says, “and the opening for her show proved that. The crowd was hot as hell, and everyone from cool hipsters to men in suits to little old ladies came by to check out her work.”

The models were also enthralled with the artist. “I always love shooting with female photographers because I feel they bring a more feminine touch to the finished product,” Jelena says. “And I love shooting with Ellen specifically because of how easy she is to work with. Her photos always have such a unique look.”

Heather agrees, saying, “Ellen’s shoots are really casual, but she still gets incredible photos because she knows what she wants. As a New Yorker, she knows how to be edgy but erotic, and she’s always a step ahead of everyone else.”

Ellen was equally appreciative of our ladies. “I love working with the Penthouse models,” Ellen tells us. “They’re all so sexy and professional. Every one of them has been great to work with. They know their bodies so well, and they just ooze sex appeal. I’m lucky to know such hot women and to be able to shoot them naked!”

Ryan describes her work shop as giving simple advice for serious sex, but believes that the key to being a great lover is having a good attitude and confidence. As she says, “Everyone deserves to have a rich and fulfilling sex life.
